Annual Twinkle Bark Stroll Aims to Ease Shelter Strain, Encourages Local Adoption

SAVANNAH, GA (WTGS) — Coastal Pets Rescue hosted their annual Twinkle Bark Stroll this weekend. The Twinkle Bark Stroll was an opportunity for the public to come out and meet potential pets to foster or adopt.

“Most people stopping by are looking for pets for adoption,” said Lisa Scarbrough with Coastal Pet Rescue.

Families who bond with a pet can sign up to later foster or adopt.

“It gives them a break from the shelter life and reduces the impact our volunteers need to make,” said Scarbrough

The shelter reports they need to help with the demand they’ve seen this year.

“This year has been one of the hardest years we’ve ever had. We’ve had far more intake requests than we can accommodate. Until we get more animals moved out of our shelter, we can’t bring any in.” said Scarbrough.

The Twinkle Bark Stroll will continue tomorrow and next weekend.
