The band announced that they’d be postponing January Jam so that ticket buyers could have a chance to cancel and spotlight the issues surrounding the closing.
TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe-based band Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers are postponing their upcoming January Jam in Mexico due to the closure of the Lukeville Port of Entry on the Arizona-Mexico border, the band announced.
“Why? Several reasons. While we understand Puerto Peñasco is OPEN for business with two border crossings available at San Luis and Nogales, most of the feedback received from ticket buyers over the last eight days state the Lukeville crossing is essential to attending the event,” the band said on Friday.
The delay will allow for ticket buyers to cancel and get 100% of their money back before 30-day cancellation policies kick in, the band’s management said.
Management also added, “there is a lot of disinformation surrounding this issue. We’re hoping this decision allows the focus to be on the issues related to the closing and not speculating on this, that and the other. Many have expressed writing leadership on both sides of the border – we think that’s a good place to start.”
January Jam has been scheduled to Thursday, Feb. 15 at JJ’s Cantina. The band expects tickets to go on sale “as soon as [they] hear the news of the re-opening.”
