Tornado Causes Damage in Garner


A tornado touched down in Garner, North Carolina, Sunday afternoon, uprooting trees and causing damage to several homes, the National Weather Service confirms.

The EF1 tornado hit Garner just before 12:30 p.m. and stayed on the ground for four minutes. According to NWS, the storm had 110 mph max winds.

“The damage was mostly snapped and uprooted trees, some of which fell on several homes,” officials with NWS said.

Trees and power lines were knocked down in the area around Woodland Road and Timber Drive. Ford Gates Drive was hit too. Other areas across the state experienced heavy rain and winds.
