Agunshot was fired and an employee was injured in a robbery Friday at a Family Dollar store in South Omaha, according to authorities.
An employee told Omaha police officers that a suspect walked into the store at 5135 S. 36th St., displayed a gun and demanded cash from the register, according to a press release from the Omaha Police Department.
A different employee engaged the suspect and a shot was fired inside the store, according to the release. The suspect then fled from the store on foot.
An employee was taken to a hospital with an injury that was not believed to be a gunshot wound, the release said. As of Friday evening, police were unsure if anyone was injured by the single shot fired inside the store. The robbery remains under investigation.
